Echoes of Eden, Strengthening Your Faith In The Word Of God

Are you going to heaven when you die?

Do you consider yourself to be a good person?

When asked this question, most people answer “Yes” or “I believe I am.” Undoubtedly, if their friends were asked to give their opinion of them their answer would be the same. Many might try to support the idea that they are a good person by saying, “I’ve never killed anybody” or “I go to church.”

From man’s perspective, you would rightfully consider many of the people around you and even yourself as “good,” but how would God answer this question if He was asked about you?

In the scope of eternity, it does not matter what we think of ourselves or what others think of us. What matters is how God sees us. In God’s eyes, the goodness of a person is determined by whether or not he or she has kept His law.

Have you kept God’s law?

(1) Have you ever told a lie? If so, what does this make you? A liar?
(2) Have you ever stolen anything that did not belong to you, no matter the size or value? If so, what does this make you? A thief?
(3) Have you ever committed adultery? According to Matthew 5:28, “whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” If you have done this, what does this make you? An adulterer?

In light of His law, how does God see you?

If you were honest with yourself you would have to admit that, according to God’s law, you are a lying thief and an adulterer. It does not matter that you have never murdered anyone. You are guilty of the entire law.

James 2:10 – “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Hebrews 9:27 tells us that “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

When you die, if God were to judge you by the law, would you be found innocent or guilty?

The answer is “guilty.” We are all guilty since we have all sinned and broken the law of God.

Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”

Because you are guilty of breaking God’s law you are destined to pay the penalty for doing so.

Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death”

You DO NOT have the ability to ask God for forgiveness. God is a just Judge and is unable to simply ignore the fact that His law has been broken.

Now for the good news!

As a just Judge, God is unable dismiss the penalty the law requires, but as a loving God He made a way so that you would not have to suffer that penalty.

Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ, the penalty required by the law was paid in full and you were provided a way to go to heaven.

Would you like to accept the gift of salvation provided to you through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ?

There are no magic words that you must recite to accept what Jesus Christ did for you. You MUST recognize that you are a sinner and that the ONLY way to heaven is through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A great example of salvation prayer can be found in Psalms 51. If you would like, you can simply read this chapter and make it your own.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, we would like to hear the good news and rejoice with you. Please visit the Contact Us section of the website and let us know about your decision for Christ.
